colour me violet and i

Melbourne label Violet and I embodies all that is feminine and floaty, a contrast to the style that one usually envisions when they think of our great city. So it is somewhat refreshing that designer Anna Linklater has bucked the typical Melbourne trend (black on top of lashings of black) and instead embraced a palette of vibrant colours and summer pastels that leave you with a hankering for ice cream, hot summer nights and garden tea parties.

For a info on Rose of the Taj, the latest collection from Violet and I check out my article here at

i hate myself for loving you

r

"Can't break free from the things that you do. I wanna walk but I run back to you, that's why, I hate myself for loving you".

Choice words from Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and as it turns out inspiration for the new Damselfly collection, 'I Hate Myself For Loving You'.
Eschewing the more romantic, whimsical style of previous collections, I Hate Myself for Loving You presents itself as an ultra sexy rock inspired range of jewellery and accessories, drawing inspiration from Jett, and perhaps a few toxic relationships in the process.

From over sized embellished neck plates, to inky leather vests dripping in silver chains, Damselfly presents a range that will leave you decorated in dangerous forms of leather, chains, feathers and antique silver plated metals fashioned into raw, sculptural pieces that ooze insouciant sex appeal....louche rock star lover not included.

Designer Christianna Heideman was kind enough to send me the look book and as such I have included a few of my favourite things...

For more info on the collection, check out my interview with Heideman HERE at Laneway Magazine.

so frenchy, so chic

Do yourself a favour and download music by Berry and Nouvelle Vague, le plus tot possible (asap!!)

I was lucky enough to see these guys a few weeks back at Prince Bandroom thanks to the formidable So Frenchy, So Chic group, who sure know how to bring Paris to Melbourne.

Combining Berry and Nouvelle Vague in the one setting brought back fond memories of my time in Paris back in the summer of 09'...sultry warm nights strolling the Latin Quarter, pain au chocolat in hand, french jazz softly permeating my ears, sipping red red wine, whilst watching the so frenchy, so chic pass me by in a haze of glory.

But enough of my self indulgence, if you want to know more, check out my review for Laneway Magazine HERE.

Or better yet, head to HEY JO where you can catch his words with enigmatic Berry and his snaps of the gig itself. While you're there, have a look around, his blog is real niceeee.

Until we meet again however, la bonne nuit mes petits amis xx

laneway magazine for little red

Ch-check my wee little write up on Melbourne kings of doo-wop Little Red at Laneway Magazine.

I managed to pull aside guitarist and vocalist Adrian Beltrame to talk all things musical, future direction and fashion forward. Bringing the sixties back in a Beach Boy kind of way you can spy these boys lurking in and around Melbourne in Hawaiian shirts and thrifted suits...to which I am told they don't tend to wash too often. Oh the charm!

But blink and you'll miss them as London has come calling again and the boys are leaving on a jet plane later this month.
