if tear drops were silver, oh how i'd shine

Gold has a social standing like no other and is often associated with the rich, the wealthy and the royal. For years people have panned for gold, finance gurus have eagerly watched the monetary value of gold rise and fall on a daily basis and many a rap star have implanted a gold tooth as a way of expressing that they had finally made it in the concrete jungle where dreams are made of.

But for me personally, I dig on silver. A silver spiked ring, a silver studded belt, a silver studded cuff, a silver skull, a silver pendant, a silver hematite cuff, a silver aubaine nail bracelet, the list could go on forever...

Needless to say every cloud has a silver lining and for me I see a silver future courtesy of the folk at Urban Outfitters.

caped crusaders

Has anyone noticed the rise of the cape and hood in recent times?

Not since I attended church with my grandmother back in my heyday have I seen so many scarves on heads and capes on backs. Whilst we are all revelling in the joys of Balmain's latest collection (pretty oh so pretty) and we are stomping our Acne clad platformed boot feet with glee we seem to have forgotten about the importance of the cape and hood. There to a hide a multitude of sins (and apparently orchestrate the magic of appearing rabbits), the cape has come to the forefront of my mind lately.
I think Sasha Pivovarova agrees with me too. She was spied in between shows at Paris Fashion week with a version of the hooded cape, looking uber futuristic and very angular.
Some of us aren't even bothering with a full blown cape and are instead opting for a lengthy scarf draped over the head and several times over and around the neck, for much of the same affect.

It's all very reminiscent of Grace Jones and I very much like it.
