colourmeBLOMST

Recently I came into contact with CAROLINE BLOMST.

Yes, THE Caroline Blomst of Caroline's Mode and Stockholm Street Style. For those of you who have been living under a rock the last few years (pardon my obnoxious tone), Caroline is the original street style blogger who not only put her Scandanavian hometown on the fashion map but also created a name for herself and her own sense of style.

I met up with her at her hotel during L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion week and this is what ensued...

got quirk?

Just as an FYI, I am not a fan of the Lady Gaga's of this world. Whilst I find her style all very creative and theatrical, I don't believe for one moment that she rolls out of bed and throws on these outfits as part of her everyday garb. The whole "it's just who I am" thing is wearing thin...fast. Who really wants to lounge around on a Sunday in a lace body suit, complete with camel toe. How on earth is one supposed to read the Sunday paper with a net eye cover?

Give me quirky yes, but give me quirky with a touch of class, a dash of reality and a whole lot of wear-ability.

Step aside Lady Gaga and enter; Chloe Sevigny, Alexa Chung, Lou Dillon, Cory Kennedy, Atlanta De Cadenet Taylor, Diane Kruger, Peaches & Pixie Geldoff, Whitney Port, Shannyn Sossaman, Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen and Harley Viera Newton.

For these are the girls who's colours clash, who's patterns collide, who's sweater pants are paired with heels and fur coats...these are the girls with original style, unique unto their own without being blatantly obvious.

its all very well stepping out in black and white

Calvin Harris once waxed lyrical about the need for us to get some colours on. Personally I think its all very well stepping out in classic black and white...and beige.
Evidently Fashion Toast and Stockholm Street Style agree. For they are all about the beige, the black and the white. Not to mention the knee high boot, the illusion of suspender stockings, the oversized tee, the oversized jumper and the faux fur (or so we hope).

Black, white and beige are the colours of my kind of rainbow.

lady love

I hate to admit it because its so cliched....but I have some serious lady love for Christine Centenera. Yes so does every other blogger on this earth but I feel that by finally putting pen to paper (or should that be keyboard to blog), that my first post on this it girl is my right of passage in the blogging world.
She the fashion editor of Australia's Harpers Bazaar (yes we can actually claim this one as our own) has sparked a frenzy of street fashion phenomena. The girl never has an off day and is what I would consider to be somewhat of a poster girl for the in season shoulder pad. So whilst most of the fashion elite are fighting off claims they have had a face lift, our dear Christine has proudly announced that she isn't one to shy away from a little lift in the shoulder department.

Her forte is shoes (her collection sends my heart into a platform heeled flutter), her legs are envious and her clothing I cannot even begin to describe. Except to say that her style is edgy -she pairs fur with studs and leather making it look like black and white are the odd couple. She does casual chic with ease one day and then sends you into a tail spin the next by wearing a dress of a kaleidoscope of colours and patterns combined with mismatched shoes that work so well you wonder if your eyes are actually deceiving you?

It is without hesitation that I can say that Centenera is fashion centuries ahead of the rest of us.
