ineed. iwant.

I've been MIA...Bali, Perth and the like...mostly just sheer laziness though to be honest, because getting back from holidays is soul destroying. It's like that feeling you get when you're 3 months into spring and your still wearing woolen knits...or is that just reality Melbourne?

Either way, I HEART THESE SHORTS. Maybe these shorts will help relieve my post holiday lull. I need. I want. You know the drill

They say in a court of law you are innocent until proven guilty. But what if you are guilty by your own admission. Do you still get sent to jail?

I have recently embarked on an unnecessary shopping spree. In a bid to curb my guilt, I was hoping that if I called my credit card company and freely admitted my wrong doings, they might just let it all slide, interest free....

In the case that that doesn't work I have a Plan B! Enter EBAY. I have just listed over some 17 items on ebay in the hope that the money earned will go to the helpmycreditfromfloundering foundation.

And so whilst I await for that first person to hedge their bets and place a bid on my belongings I sit and stare at my recently acquired purchases....

Thank you Kirrily Johnston subterranean dipped knit, thank you Country Road perfect slouchy silk shirt, thank you Topshop Addison wedge boots, thank you Strawberrynet for my Marc Jacobs daisy perfume, thank you O.P.I for your delightful shades of nail varnish, thank you op shop for my Stevie Nicks inspired green bell sleeved dress, frayed poncho and lace tee.

And just for good measure I have thrown in a pic of my new pet elephant, purchased on a recent trip to Perth. Ain't he cute!

it's what's underneath that counts

Collectors are usually those who seek antique model trains, unique coins and Elvis memorabilia. I on the other hand, am a collector of vintage gloves and pretty lingerie.

It's fair to say that gloves you can go without, but lingerie is for most (or so you would hope) a necessity.
For me however, it is more so an obsession. My obsession has been fuelled lately by the recent trending towards exposing undergarments as outerwear

For me, this trend is what I will be living and breathing this season.

Corsets over tees and a subtle exposure of a lace bra peeking out from beneath a slouchy Alexander Wang jersey tee, sends my heart a flutter(and I'm sure it doesn't sit too badly with our male counterparts either).

My favourite items? My Sass and Bide for Lovable ruffle crop top, my tie-die Zimmerman bra and my mesh faux denim bodysuit...pulled (perhaps a little too aggressively) from a sale rack in Topshop when I was holidaying in London late last year.

So if like me, you are a fan of undergarments as outerwear, may I suggest we rejoice, and refrain from burning our bras. Instead let's expose them for what they really are....mostly sheer, lace pieces of exquisite beauty.

camilla and marc cherry frock

camilla and marc roma frock

camilla and marc benedict top

willow cascading asymmetrical side drape top

willow cut-wave dress with draped sleeve

camilla and marc grand prince tee

camilla and marc re-cut biker knee legging

I'm not going to lie, I'm not one for lots of colour or big on pretty feminine dresses but every once in a while I succumb to the girlie girl buried deep within and fall a little in love with all things, lace, pretty and sequinned.

However, when I logged onto mycatwalk.com last week to scope the latest in season fare, I nearly died at the sight of all the divine new items available for pre-order. Camilla and Marc got my heart when they offered up their ivory lace cherry frock and then Willow stole it completely with their cut wave dress.

But just when I thought my tastes had changed and I'd become a real lady, I spied a pair of Camilla and Marc re-cut biker leggings and their series of Grand Prince shoulder pad-studded tees and returned to my rock chick (wannabe) roots faster than you can say leather.

Now please help me choose which item I am allowed to put on my credit card this month??

give me sun, give me dirt, give me water

The Waif's said it best when they sang, give me sun, give me dirt, give me water. The only thing they forgot to add (sand replacing dirt aside), was give me ZIMMERMAN.

I'm sure they just forgot to add in that last lyric when they wrote a song with sweet everlasting love in mind.

Sun plus sand plus water plus Zimmerman equals my idea of summer bliss.

Log on to zimmermanwear.com and their bold choice of patterns, colours and the combination of a mismatch of the two are purely and simply amazing.

They subtly manage to incorporate runway trends into their swimwear collection that are still practical enough to withstand the wear and tear of the surf. Case in point with their summer 09/10 collection where there are cut outs, tie backs, lace ups, corset boning and draping. This all may sound odd in reference to swimwear but I challenge you to find a pair that doesn't enhance your finer features.

I refuse to endure a summer long season without the purchase of at least one pair of Zimmerman's bikinis. This year however I am fighting an uphill sand dune battle. I have my eye on no less than three pairs but an old promise I made to myself wayyy back in June (to forgo the purchase of Zimmerman bikinis for an entire year due to the spend-age of a weeks plus wage on a pair of Fleur T for Topshop bikinis when I was in London) has returned to haunt me.

Lucky for me I don't live for the past, I live a little for the future (i.e the future beach parties I hope to attend) and a lot for the now.

So for now, the Zimmerman summer gods are pointing me in the direction of the Bittersweet Twist one-piece in orchid....and the Billow loop knot bikinis in lilac....and perhaps the Chelsea frill bandeau bikini in leopard print.
