one plus one equals Friend of Mine Winter 2010

So here's the thing, I'm meant to be studying...the aim is to get my first assignment in for my new course by the end of this week.

But how is this possible if I can't seem to drag my eyes away from blog after blog after blog (none of which are related to Freelance Journalism Fundamentals 1).

Currently on my radar...Friend of Mine Winter 2010.

After viewing the AMAZING collection I put together this equation;

1x pre owned Friend of Mine MJ Tan wedge boots

+

1x newly purchased black and tan spotted Friend of Mine Winter 2010 dress with black lace up detail

=

(a) joy beyond belief,

(b) another terribly bad/unnecessary dent on the credit card, or

(c) all of the above?

I'm afraid my math skills have always been quite terrible so as a result I am going to take a guess and circle the answer A.

mywardrobe.com

camilla and marc cherry frock

camilla and marc roma frock

camilla and marc benedict top

willow cascading asymmetrical side drape top

willow cut-wave dress with draped sleeve

camilla and marc grand prince tee

camilla and marc re-cut biker knee legging

I'm not going to lie, I'm not one for lots of colour or big on pretty feminine dresses but every once in a while I succumb to the girlie girl buried deep within and fall a little in love with all things, lace, pretty and sequinned.

However, when I logged onto mycatwalk.com last week to scope the latest in season fare, I nearly died at the sight of all the divine new items available for pre-order. Camilla and Marc got my heart when they offered up their ivory lace cherry frock and then Willow stole it completely with their cut wave dress.

But just when I thought my tastes had changed and I'd become a real lady, I spied a pair of Camilla and Marc re-cut biker leggings and their series of Grand Prince shoulder pad-studded tees and returned to my rock chick (wannabe) roots faster than you can say leather.

Now please help me choose which item I am allowed to put on my credit card this month??

monday i have Frye on my mind

The balmy 30 degree temperatures outside would suggest that Summer remains ever so present here in Melbourne today. But rewind things a fraction back to last week and one wouldn't' be so sure. That's the thing about Melbourne weather, its fickle. Much like myself. So when it comes to clothing, shoes and accessories what I love one week will differ entirely to what I am lusting for the next.

This week I can't even begin to describe my total and utter love/passion/obsession/addiction for these Frye rogan studded combat boots. I would even go as far as saying I would trade my entire shoe collection for them. If I don't receive a pair of these for my birthday consider it a day spent in tears, wallowing in self pity. I can see them pairing so well with my just purchased, slash eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new Shakuhachi dusty pink Geisha Girl shirt dress. I think I just shed a little tear of excitement.

Monday I have Frye on my mind.

Talk to me next week though and I am sure my obsession/love/passion/addiction will have been placed elsewhere.

bend it like beckham

You've got to hand it to Mrs David Beckham (as she will perpetually forever be known). She has impressed us all with her last two DVB collections (albeit basic & structured yet undoubtedly classy) and this time around she has managed to spice things up for her third collection (no pun intended). The lady has injected some colour and a little sass into those bone corseted dresses that are said to hold you in, in all the right places whilst creating the illusion of perfect curves. We are seeing splashes of red and yellow and low and behold ... patterns!

Well played Posh, I'm digging on the red and black floor length cut-out dress. Now kick back, relax and eat something, you're a success

who needs colour

Who needs all the colours of the rainbow when you can have a classic black dress as grand as this? Ok so she did add some hot pink lipstick and two tone green/blue platform heels to the mix. But honestly, can the shoulder and scoop back detail of this dress be any more fabulous?

I think not.

a little Acne, does a girl good

Just can't get enough of Acne Spring/Summer 2010. I want that sheer shirt with motif design on the back so badly and the two tone off the shoulder dress needs to be mine and the there is an empty spot in my wardrobe for the black suede fringed jacket.
Life would be a happier place with a little of this Acne collection in my life

to grandmother's house we go

So technically us Melbournians are heading towards the sunnier side of the year. However one thing I have come to learn from living here all my life is that you should never pack your winter gear away and expect not to see it until autumn. Our weather does not allow for such a luxury. We have been known to have all four seasons in one day...and this all before lunch.

On the other side of the world however, they are likely to be fully embracing the season of the chunky knit with gusto. And why wouldn't they? Topshop's Unique line and Julien MacDonald (just a select few) have put forth some great knit options as part of their fall range and others have undoubtedly followed suit. You can either wear the chunky knit as an accessory (introducing the super sized scarf) or an over sized jumper dress/cardigan (my personal choice) or even as the fall season's version of the cutaway look (yes it is possible).

So with all this in mind I think I will keep my newly purchased chunky knit cardigan from Zara on the top shelf of my wardrobe...just in case a spring day turns into a winter nightmare.
