slacking off this summer

Slacks, trousers, kegs...the humble pant has many a name and without doubt, many a style. Of the minute however, you can't seem to go past the silk drawn harem pant. Sashaying down catwalks for miles, harem pants have been the light weight option that has shone bright this European summer. Seen on the fashion set at catwalk shows in colours of dusty pink, Chloe draped white silks and the ubiquitous goes-with-everything nero black - the harem pant has made a comeback of notable proportions.

So as we edge into warmer territory on this side fo the world, we are setting aside our heavy weight jeans and slipping on what the euro's have been sporting for months now (preferably a pair of the leopard print Isabel Marant kind). Meanwhile over in the northern hemisphere they are simply dragging out their finest ankle boots and in-season clogs to pair with their harem's instead.
And whilst I am the first to admit I rant and rave about my hatred for winter on a regular basis, I really am all about the harem pants, the patterned jean, the sequined legging and the wide set pant at the moment. Quite ironic really given summer is rearing its 30 plus degree head as I type. However, I am choosing to denounce the obvious and will hold my head high repeating the words, 'fashion first - appropriate seasonal weather items second'.

she walks to a dolce beat

I just made a transfer of funds to my credit card...and so the overseas payback begins. This means one of two things this weekend, a) my weekend budget should extend to nothing more than soda hold the vodka and b) I most definitely cannot afford these pretty as a peach Dolce and Gabbana slingback wedges....like ever. They are perfection all wrapped in one, light on the sole (pardon the pun), easy on the eye and black to the drum of a suede beat.

For now however, I will just have to see them through the eyes of another, one who always brings sheer amazingess to the table. This time she manages to do so in the form of Zara leather, vintage nirvana, BDG denim and dolce dolce dolce.

She sure is living la dolce vita.

my black heart aches for

I want to steal the clothe's off alexa chung's back on a daily basis
I want that fur jacket and plaid shirt, in that exact order
I want a gold lame adidas bag just like hers
I want that sheer Chloe shirt and those Bassike leather pants
I want her eyes
I want to ride shot gun in that trailer through a Californian desert
I want to be an Olsen just for one day
I want to claim that photo as my own
I want that large faux clock hanging as a centre piece in my room
I want more leopard in my life
I want to sell my soul for that Zimmerman body suit
I want a parisienne style maxi dress more than I want a crepe
I want to be as new york cool as Jess Hart
I want that pouch necklace hanging around my neck
I want to be that strong when I'm that old
I want to be in that photo standing right next to Warhol
I want to know...am I asking for too much?

word of the wise

"deep down, i'm pretty superficial"

- ava gardner -

my most favourite actress of all time, uttering a word never more truer to be spoken.

...because aren't we all?

Miss Gardner was never afraid to speak her mind, she lived life large, drank often and married many - a rat packed Frank Sinatra to be one of those she thee wed. I inspire to be like her, a little more each day

saga sigurdardottir

The London College of Fashion is known for producing some great talent and they don't come much more exquisite than the works of Icelandic fashion photographer Saga Sigurdardottir. A handful of a name indeed, but a body of work so mesmerising I often get lost in her world of elfin like model creatures, feathers, fur, shoes of deep rich mahogany and purple, velvets and satin and bows and gardens of endless fountains and overgrown chic grass.

Yes overgrown chic grass. If there ever was such a thing as overgrown chic grass then Sigurdardottir has captured it time and time again.

Only in her second year of fashion photography, her work has already been exhibited in publications including Dazed & Confused, Dazed Digital, Lurve Magazine and The Company of People.

I sense that larger things loom for this girl and I am in fact predicting us to be hailing Saga the Great in much the same vein in which we do Terry Richardson, sometime in the near future.
