laneway magazine for little red

Ch-check my wee little write up on Melbourne kings of doo-wop Little Red at Laneway Magazine.

http://lanewaymagazine.com.au/little-red-big-things/

I managed to pull aside guitarist and vocalist Adrian Beltrame to talk all things musical, future direction and fashion forward. Bringing the sixties back in a Beach Boy kind of way you can spy these boys lurking in and around Melbourne in Hawaiian shirts and thrifted suits...to which I am told they don't tend to wash too often. Oh the charm!

But blink and you'll miss them as London has come calling again and the boys are leaving on a jet plane later this month.

if i were but a mere male

If I were but a mere male....

I would want friends like Teddy, Gordie, Chris and even Vern from Stand by Me. I would want a Breitling Montbrilliant Datora watch which wouldn't at all match the skater boy image I was trying to exude thanks to my abundance of tattoos. But then again neither would my man bag, Givenchy leggings or rolled up chino's revealing my I Heart London socks. But that's where good (looking) mates Jake Gyllenhaal and Joaquin Phoenix would step in to defend me, as I sat back with my vintage grandpa hat and strummed my guitar, all the whilst wishing I was actually a drummer.

the apple doesn't fall far from the coconut tree

I grew up listening to the Rolling Stones.

I was named after Mick Jagger's daughter Jade, my sister...Angie, after the famed song.

If their albums weren't blaring at our house, then my mum wasn't home.

To me, The Stones, are the epitome of cool - Jagger a playboy rock n' roll icon, Keith Richards (to me and most likely me only) the most charming and style savvy 60+ year old going around. I actually shed tears when I heard Richards had fallen out of a tree whilst climbing for coconuts a few years back...such was my devastation at the thought of him leaving this world.

So I'm sure it comes as no surprise to find out that I am equally as obsessed with the offspring of the Stone's men. I've blogged about Georgia May Jagger before but it's Theodora Richards that has really got my heart these days. Where Georgia Jagger has the pillow lips and doe-eyed look that men so desperately fall for, Theodora Richards has the less obvious charm and the looks that you need to go searching a little harder for.

Her style is mostly glam rock but is masked with the offbeat, gritty style, that only her father can pull of.

Oh how I wish papa was a rolling stone...

sing for your supper

Sometimes there comes a time when you have to sing for your supper. Fortunately for me I have a plate of leftovers to be microwaved and a voice that is not quite ready for public consumption.

Should I keep up this whole writing gig however, I may just find myself busking on the streets of Melbourne to earn a pretty penny.

Having said that, the good news rolled in this week (and funnily enough has continued to do so ever since). I managed to pull an article in Fashion Journal 97.

You can grab yourself a free copy at most fashion boutiques, chain stores and cafes in and around your city, or check out the online version HERE

A big thank you to editor Leah White for persisting with my piece and how can I forgo a mention to the lovely ladies at TV who made it all possible...Ingrid Verner and Monika Tywanek (http://www.tvthelabel.com/)

And lastly I'd like to thank the higher beings from above, without which, I never would've made it this far in life

*cue music and shameless tears*
