'cause i try and i try and i try

The Rolling Stones sang it true when they uttered the words, 'I can't get no satisfaction' because just when the weather turns and I get those deliciously balmy 30+ degree days that I have been so longing for I get a strong craving for chunky woolen knits. The kind of knits you throw on over Bassike tees, your most worn jeans and weathered boots, open fire place not included.

It is in my experience to never ignore cravings...so I'm just going to go with it. I'll just counterbalance my most favourite winter knits with some ripped summer shorts, a refreshing mojito and some serious air-conditioning.

They say in a court of law you are innocent until proven guilty. But what if you are guilty by your own admission. Do you still get sent to jail?

I have recently embarked on an unnecessary shopping spree. In a bid to curb my guilt, I was hoping that if I called my credit card company and freely admitted my wrong doings, they might just let it all slide, interest free....

In the case that that doesn't work I have a Plan B! Enter EBAY. I have just listed over some 17 items on ebay in the hope that the money earned will go to the helpmycreditfromfloundering foundation.

And so whilst I await for that first person to hedge their bets and place a bid on my belongings I sit and stare at my recently acquired purchases....

Thank you Kirrily Johnston subterranean dipped knit, thank you Country Road perfect slouchy silk shirt, thank you Topshop Addison wedge boots, thank you Strawberrynet for my Marc Jacobs daisy perfume, thank you O.P.I for your delightful shades of nail varnish, thank you op shop for my Stevie Nicks inspired green bell sleeved dress, frayed poncho and lace tee.

And just for good measure I have thrown in a pic of my new pet elephant, purchased on a recent trip to Perth. Ain't he cute!

Click here and here and here and here oh and how about here...should you so wish to indulge in some online shopping.

in no great Russh

A lovely friend of mine (no, not the label) gifted me with a 12 month subscription to Russh for my birthday a few months ago.

I received the first edition a few weeks back but it has taken until today to get through the entire edition.

Perusing through Russh is like a million presents in one. Each time I turn a page the excitement I feel for what is on the next page is palpable. So much so that I purposely never allow myself to read more than 3 articles at a time just so I can drag out my Russh experience all that much longer.

Sad. But true.

See above for my Russh favs as seen in the April edition of Russh Magazine 2010.

one plus one equals Friend of Mine Winter 2010

So here's the thing, I'm meant to be studying...the aim is to get my first assignment in for my new course by the end of this week.

But how is this possible if I can't seem to drag my eyes away from blog after blog after blog (none of which are related to Freelance Journalism Fundamentals 1).

Currently on my radar...Friend of Mine Winter 2010.

After viewing the AMAZING collection I put together this equation;

1x pre owned Friend of Mine MJ Tan wedge boots

+

1x newly purchased black and tan spotted Friend of Mine Winter 2010 dress with black lace up detail

=

(a) joy beyond belief,

(b) another terribly bad/unnecessary dent on the credit card, or

(c) all of the above?

I'm afraid my math skills have always been quite terrible so as a result I am going to take a guess and circle the answer A.

lord of the rings

Its been a month since my birthday and a few months since christmas, so whilst I am now another year older and none the wiser, I am still smarting over the pretty bling bling gifts I received.

Exhibit A - my shiny new silver jade green ring to which I owe either many a compliment or many an akward stare (yes it is B-I-G). My dear dad actually put this one together, so not only is it prettier than I had imagined but it is handmade and therefore has all the more meaning.

Exhibit B - my most adored Christmas present (from Santa of course), my Friend of Mine MJ camel suede wedge boots. I put these on and life is suddenly a whole lot sweeter.

And lastly, I present my Samantha Wills charm bracelets...I wear one at least every day but they look best when they are dangling off my arm all together, in which case you can hear me approaching from a mile away.

Charmed indeed

And as would Julie Andrew's would say....'these are a few of my favourite things'.

I don't often like to do posts on a city's Fashion Week. I feel that everybody else covers it oh-so well and that there is simply nothing more to say.

However....I just can't help myself this time around.

New York Fashion Week Fall 2010, you've got my heart.

In quick summary, it is once again all about black but with muted shades of grey and more neutral nude and beige tones. Ankle boots have yet to see their hey day and this year around they appear chunkier than ever (thank you shoe gods!). White tights are the new opaques and grey ribbed leggings shall be my new best friend. Also noted is an extreme amount of layering and draping. I am gladly celebrating the return of draping...nothing excites me more than draped dresses, skirts, jumpers, anything draped and oversize has well and truly got me hooked.

So there you have it. For a self confessed extreme winter-hater I sure am getting excited about the autumn that is fast approaching, so long as each of these pieces above are placed nicely in my wardrobe by summer's end....
